The reasons are vast and many to Be Untethered. It's no secret that we are completely addicted to technology, especially our phones. The psychological effects of excessive screen time is continually being studied, but rest assured, there's a lot of bad.  Reviews.org covered some findings in our obsession with Smart Phones.  Here's a tidbit that should scare you:

Even when you take away the completely vain, narcissistic, dopamine addicting aspects of social media, you still have the negative bullying and depression epidemic that has affected so many youths and adults in recent years from Social Media.
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are many wellness benefits of cutting down screen time, including but not limited to:  physical health, sleep, mood, and real social connections.
